Small groups are starting up soon for Shandon College Ministry so I decided to put the information for mine and Jessi's group in a blog to give you ladies a heads-up about what God has placed on our hearts to study this semester.
Details:
Day: Sunday
Time: 6:30 - 7:30pm
Place: Mine and Jessi's house
All of the small groups in the college ministry will be studying Radical based teachings and discussion for 3 weeks. Those weeks will be a time for you to try out the small group scene if you are a little nervous about the commitment to a group for a semester.
After the first three weeks, our group of young women will take on the book of Hebrews. Here is a brief description of what we will be getting into (adapted from the Life Application Study Bible summary of Hebrews):
"Whatever you are considering as the focus of life,
CHRIST IS BETTER. He is the perfect revelation of God, the final and complete sacrifice for sin, the compassionate and understanding mediator, and the
only way to eternal life. Join us as we dig deep into Hebrews and begin to see history and life from God's perspective. Then, let's give ourselves unreservedly and completely to Christ!"
As far as Jessi and I know, we will be focusing on three main components: 1) prayer, 2) service, and 3) fellowship/unity. We want you to get out of your comfort zone and dig into the Word deeper than ever before. We will be doing things like memorizing scripture and keeping prayer journals (which I think you might really love what we will be doing with them!). You will be getting to know the other ladies in the group in ways that may challenge you, but I hope you are up for it!
This group is open to any female student who is hungry to know more than just what is on the surface of what it means to be a Christian.
Our core verse:
"Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near."
